Statement to voters
It’s an honour to be running as Labour’s candidate to be the next MP for Sutton and Cheam. I grew up here and went to St Philomena’s School. I studied law and worked in a solicitors practice. I now work for the largest UK Charity for domestic abuse, supporting victims of gendered violence. One of my priorities as your Labour MP will be to work for a reduction in crime and violence against women and girls. Alongside my 12 years of professional experience, I currently serve as a Councillor and am Labour’s Lead on Housing, campaigning to improve conditions in the social and private sectors. The UK is currently facing a national housing crisis. Sutton and Cheam faces the same pressures. Our children and grandchildren are unable to afford high rental costs or the chance to buy their first home. As your Labour MP, I will advocate for better quality and more affordable housing for all. The NHS is on its knees. I am immensely grateful to the staff at The Royal Marsden who cared for my mother. I saw firsthand the pressure on our dedicated doctors and nurses. Labour has a plan to invest in and rebuild the NHS. I want to be a part of making those improvements as your Labour MP. The last 14 years of Conservative Government, propped by the Liberal Democrat Coalition, have broken our country. Sutton and Cheam deserve better, and I will deliver the change our residents need. This General Election is Labour’s best chance to win in Sutton and Cheam (Survation MRP Polling). Use your vote to elect me as your Labour MP, and we can work together to give you and your family a fresh start under a Labour Government.
