Statement to voters
Rosemary Palmer, known as Rosey in St Ann's/Thorny Wood, is the Green Party candidate for Nottingham East. She is deeply connected to her local community, having maintained an allotment at the Heritage Gardens of St Ann's for over 20 years. Her involvement there led to the creation of Gardeners for Health, a movement addressing post-COVID concerns. Since 2003, Rosey has worked in Health and Social Care in East Nottingham, meeting families and helping them with complex and challenging issues. Rosey has deep social connections in the area, being part of the rich community of churches and social centres across Nottingham East. She was a teacher in the UK and the Caribbean and appreciates the value of learning. Currently volunteering at a charity shop on Mapperley top, Rosey advocates for high street renovation, having seen our town centres decline under the current government. As a parliamentary candidate, she aims to prioritise green policies, focusing on housing, homelessness, local council funding, safe transport, and opportunities for school-leavers. Rosey plans to use natural resources to promote safety, stability, and environmental productivity. She supports creating a more equitable society, upholding democratic rights for dignity and self-determination. Rosey will hold major parties accountable, emphasising that poverty is unproductive, profit reinvestment should be equitable, and neglecting the climate crisis is indefensible.
