Statement to voters

Amanda is a Pompey girl in more ways than one. She is passionate about the city she grew up and has worked in as well as Portsmouth Football Club. As a season ticket holder and elected Supporter’s Trust board member you will regularly find her and her family at the Fratton end loudly supporting Pompey. A teacher for 24 years, Amanda has championed education for our young people and supported thousands of colleagues across the city. She was the first president of the National Education Union and now works supporting head teachers and school leaders. A proud Mum to 3 boys, Amanda knows how hard raising a family can be especially when times are tough. She is keen that every child in Portsmouth can achieve their dreams. As a teacher, trade union representative and community activist Amanda has built strong relationships both professionally and across Portsmouth communities and is respected by the people she works with. Amanda is a trustee of of local and national charities with a particular focus on children, families and women. She strives to give people a voice and a platform to overcome barriers and realise their potential. Amanda is currently chair of Portsmouth Labour Party. Amanda was delighted to be chosen as Labour candidate for Cosham and Wymering and says, ‘I am very proud and honoured to have been asked to represent Cosham and Wymering on behalf of Labour. Having worked and lived in the Cosham and Wymering area and with so many family and friends living in the area I understand how a community voice speaking up can make a difference, I hope to gain the trust and support of residents so that I can add to the Labour voice for Cosham and Wymering on the local council on behalf of all residents.’
