Statement to voters

I grew up in Haywards Heath and have lived in Sussex for most of my life. I have a PhD in nature conservation, and work for a large environmental charity. I previously worked in humanitarian aid for nearly 15 years for organisations including Save the Children. I was deployed to crises including Haiti, Myanmar and the occupied Palestinian territories, and was Director of Policy in London for Mercy Corps. I was a Mid Sussex District Councillor between 2019 and 2023, working mainly on issues to do with planning and the environment. I'm standing to be your MP because everywhere I go around East Grinstead and Uckfield I meet people who care deeply about their families, communities and environment. But many have given up on politics - because they have lost faith in politicians to improve their lives. I want to help change that. I will: listen to all members of the community with respect; engage in political debate with tolerance and reason; and be honest that we can't fix everything quickly, but that shouldn't mean we stop trying.
