Statement to voters

Yorkshire deserves its fair share. Public spending in Yorkshire was £2,600 less per person than in London or Scotland in 2023, and the trend was continued. That’s a shortfall of over £14 billion across Yorkshire What could Yorkshire do with an extra £14 billion a year? Avoid council tax rises Fight crime with more frontline police - Crime is rising and we need to prioritise prevention and detection Properly fund the essentials, such as social care and children's services. Build a West Yorkshire Metro - Metros have elevated and underground sections to cut through congestion, making them quicker and more reliable than trams. London has Crossrail and HS2. Yorkshire deserves world-class transport to create jobs and cut pollution. Create jobs in local health, dental and social care - Waiting hours for ambulances or in A&E is unacceptable - as are the huge shortages in dentistry, social care and children’s services Rejuvenate derelict sites with greener homes - We need more homes to lower rents and prices. New homes should have solar panels and first-class insulation, existing homes need green subsides I'll also fight to defend the greenbelt, which is under threat yet again. As a teacher, I'll defend our schools - what's happened to Queensway must never happen again. I live in Rawdon and teach engineering apprentices. I'll fight for you and our area's future. Dr Bob Buxton - your local Yorkshire Party candidate.
