Stuart McDonald went to school in Kilsyth, previously worked as a human rights solicitor, and served as the MP for Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East from 2015 to 2024. In 2023 he successfully introduced and guided the Neonatal Care (Leave and Pay) Bill through Parliament. This means that each year, from 2025, tens of thousands of families with premature and sick babies will get additional paid leave while their newborns are still in hospital receiving neonatal care.Stuart has served as SNP spokesperson on immigration and asylum, justice and home affairs.In his spare time, Stuart loves football, music and travel.
