Statement to voters

I am a retired IT consultant who worked in both the public and private sectors. I have lived in Leeds for thirty five years. There are two big threats to people. One is the gross inequality and injustice generated by capitalism. The other is the environmental degradation, particularly global warming, that threatens to disrupt the life-support system on which our lives depend. These two problems are intertwined. Moving to a more equal, fairer society will not, of itself, be good enough if we continue to destroy our own environment. Trying to solve our environmental problems under capitalism is futile; capitalism is based on endless, unlimited growth and quick profits. It does not and cannot worry about the fact that it is wrecking our world. We must address both these problems together.
