Statement to voters

Standing to be Member of Parliament for my local community is a real privilege. Brentwood and Ongar is my home, it is where I grew up, went to school and made my life. Our community, with its unique mixture of towns, villages and countryside, gave me a fantastic start to life, providing a safe, healthy environment to learn, grow and live. I had a brilliant start at St Peter’s South Weald and the Hedley Walter High School before University, where I studied Economics at the University of Essex, followed by studying part-time for a Masters's degree in public policy and a Doctorate in Government from Birkbeck, University of London. This enabled me to have a fulfilling career and, in turn, buy a home in Brentwood. For the last decade, I have served as a Brentwood Councillor, with a record of making an impact, and over the last year, had the honour of being Mayor of Brentwood. After over a decade of decline, I believe a local voice is needed to take on the work needed to rebuild and enhance our community. Having grown up in Brentwood, I want to make sure that the experiences that gave me such an opportunity in life are available to the next generation, and restore our home to its best. I want to take back our streets with stronger policing and guaranteed patrols in town centres. I will support our local businesses and our High Streets by reforming business rates, getting the NHS back on its feet so Brentwood and Ongar families can get treatment faster, and proper funding and investment in our schools which have suffered so much. This is your chance to vote for real change and to be part of a journey towards a brighter future for Brentwood and Ongar. Change is possible, and a better Brentwood & Ongar can be realised—let’s make it happen together.
