Statement to voters
My Mum grew up on Merton Street and I live in the ward because I love it here. I love its diversity, history and heritage. Our Community came together during the pandemic, with lots of examples of people helping their neighbours. From the Community Fridge to litter-picking, Grimsbury and Hightown is a community that cares. As your Councillor I will fight for safer streets and cleaner estates. I will push for more decent, affordable homes and better conditions for tenants. I’ll stand up for all residents in Grimsbury and Hightown and would love to have your support on 4th May. Our priorities for Cherwell 1. Deliver more genuinely affordable homes, to rent and to buy, for local people. 2. Tackle the 50% of homes in Cherwell that have an energy efficiency rating of below average. 3. Improve standards in rented accommodation with a Tenants’ Charter. 4. Action to address the climate emergency including a Citizens’ Assembly. 5. Put mental health and tackling loneliness at the heart of what the Council does. 6. Focus investment into creating dynamic town centres. 7. Clean up our estates with zero-tolerance to fly-tipping.
