Statement to voters
I have always been involved in community projects and helping people with advice and support, through various jobs and volunteering including for over a decade now helping to run a community farm just outside the city. Three years ago I was elected as a councillor for Holbrooks and have been working in the ward, supporting individuals and community groups as well as learning how the Council works on a policy making level. I have lived in Coventry all my adult life. I came here to go to University, fell in love with the city and my husband so we made our home here. I am inspired by the history of Coventry, how we have re-invented ourselves over and over again, always bringing in new people and ideas and I believe we can do that again to make a better future. My priority, if re-elected, is to improve communications, so the people of Coventry have a real say in what happens, and to support local projects which are aiming to improve the city by working together. Since being elected, I’ve been asking for a city-wide plan for walking, wheeling and cycling so that various cycle routes actually connect up and make it easier to get around the city, so I will continue to work on that. I also want to push for more green spaces and community growing projects in the city.
