Statement to voters

I am Dr Jag Boyapati, a local GP working in Tunstall. I am a doctor working in the NHS for the last 22 years and have been a GP in Tunstall for more than 10 years. This is my first venture into politics. As a GP, I understand the social, economic and health challenges we all face. Regardless of whichever party is in power, we have been at the receiving end of getting a raw deal. We are left with a city, which once was a thriving potteries town with rich history and heritage, into a city with cost of living crisis, health inequalities, long waiting lists, rising crime, drug addiction, unemployment and a high street with empty buildings. I am running as an independent candidate for Stoke-on-Trent North because I care about the people and the communities where I work. Should I be elected as an MP, I will represent and serve the people with humility, compassion and a human touch. I will work hard to improve health services and tackle the challenges we face to the best of my abilities. There is an apathy towards politics and the electoral process because many feel nothing changes regardless of who is in power. We need new leaders in the system who bring in new perspectives and see the challenges we face with a fresh pair of eyes to come up with smart solutions.
