Statement to voters

I have lived in the Tynemouth constituency for almost all of my life. I am concerned about the erosion of democracy that has happened in recent years. I want to stand in the election because I want to give voters a choice beyond the usual 2 party system. I am standing for Party of Women because in recent years I have witnessed women's rights become a contentious issue and I want to use the democratic process to make it more acceptable to speak about women's rights and child safeguarding failures in public. The current issues around this subject are not being platformed by the main legacy media channels and so many people are not aware of the threats to women and children. My background is in the voluntary sector where I supported the community, many from disadvantaged backgrounds to make positive changes to their lives. Ten years ago I set up a business with very little resource or knowhow. I have navigated this successfully and am a local employer. Safeguarding children and vulnerable adults has been at the forefront of my practice and I am passionate about families, people and communities to thrive.
