Statement to voters
Mike Massimi serves as a councillor for Old Malden in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, where he has earned a strong reputation as a visible, hands-on representative with a clear focus on delivery and real results for local residents. Over several years he has worked closely with fellow councillor Elizabeth Park, between them raising more than 1,100 resident enquiries and casework issues (by far the highest across the Borough). His approach has always prioritised practical action over promises, concentrating on what can genuinely be improved on the ground and then seeing it through. Community safety has been a particular priority. Through regular ward walks with police, early intervention on environmental and street issues, and sustained engagement with residents, Old Malden has seen measurable and meaningful improvements. By the end of 2025, the ward ranked as the safest in London for thefts, burglaries and robberies, placing first out of more than 625 wards across the capital according to Metropolitan Police data, measured both by total crime and by rate per 1,000 residents. Other notable achievements include over 230 residents trained in CPR and lifesaving skills through St John Ambulance, and one of the highest concentrations of defibrillators and bleed control kits anywhere in London. Old Malden also became home to the UK's first Department for Transport approved hedgehog crossing signs, a scheme subsequently adopted nationally. Road maintenance improvements in the ward were highlighted by the AA as an example of best practice, and Mike has maintained a consistent record of protecting local green spaces, biodiversity and conservation areas, alongside a zero tolerance approach to fly-tipping and environmental damage. His working style is straightforward: listen, act, deliver, and remain accountable to residents throughout. He is known for quiet delivery over political noise, with a preference for tangible improvements over headline-chasing. At the 2026 local elections, Mike Massimi was re-elected with the highest share of the vote of any councillor in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. He received 26% of the vote and grew his total vote by approximately 20%, rising from 1,093 votes in 2022 to 1,311 in 2026. The result reflects sustained local support and broad recognition of the work he has put in on the ground. The result speaks for itself. Mike's approach has remained consistent throughout: deliver for residents, challenge where challenge is needed, and hold those in authority to account, whether officers, agencies, the Metropolitan Police Service or private management companies. The focus has always been on real results, not rhetoric.
