Statement to voters
I am pleased and proud to be your Labour Parliamentary Candidate for the General Election on June 8th, and I would like your help to unseat Bernard Jenkin, who has been your Harwich and North Essex Tory MP for twenty-five years. Not everyone likes change, but sometimes we need to be bold. I strongly believe our distinctive communities of Harwich and North Essex needs some fresh thinking and better local support to thrive and grow in the coming years. I am the best candidate to deliver change, and I promise to listen and work hard on behalf of all of you. I have lived in Wivenhoe for more than twenty-five years. I taught science at the Colne Community School in Brightlingsea and have worked in schools in Clacton and Harwich. I have raised my children here and live close to my parents. I have been a ward councillor for 3 years, am a governor in Wivenhoe’s Broomgrove School, and volunteer for the Monday Club, a service to help older residents meet up and make friends. I chair Refugee Action in Colchester, which helps people settle and integrate into our communities. I understand the importance of family, community and our amazing natural environment to the people of Harwich and North Essex.
