Statement to voters

My name is Barry Kirby, I'm 38 and Married to Amanda and have 3 young children. My family has grown up in Gloucester, after my time in the Military. I am a bit of a technology geek and I am lucky enough to run a small business in Kingsway that I started just over 5 years ago where we deliver human science and engineering research to mainly the Ministry of Defence. I have also been a County Councillor as a natural development of the passion I have for working with volunteers and communities. I am a great believer in communitites and that building communities, be that between neighbours, or groups of like minded people, is great fun and proves that we achieve more when we work together than we do alone. I am proud to be standing for Labour because I believe in the fundamental values of Equality, fairness and cooperation and I think that Gloucester needs those values at our heart when making decisions that affect the residents of our amazing city. This election is being pushed as a Brexit election, but it is so much more than that. The Labour position on Brexit is quite clear, but his election is also about the economy, the dismantling of our NHS, our councils being starved of cash and having to reduce services, all ideologically driven whilst driving up our national debt to unprecedented levels. Now is a time for Gloucester to change direction, to have a Brexit that works and doesn't drive us off a cliff, to have a caring and compassion in our decision making and representation, and to elect an MP that will work with everyone for the good of the many, not just the few.
