Statement to voters
I live in Faversham, run my own business as a human rights and sustainability specialist, am a trained political economist, spend a huge amount of my time volunteering in the community and have a track record of delivering for this area. I run litter picking and tree-planting days, I monitor water quality in Faversham creek, work with local groups to resist housing developments that don't meet local needs, have acted for many years as a charity trustee and recently successfully forced Kent County Council to backtrack on their plans to close local libraries across Kent. I want to be your hard-working MP, making sure our voices are heard in Parliament and getting things done for our communities. As your MP I will work hard to protect and restore the vital services like buses, libraries and youth clubs that keep our communities alive. I will fight to significantly increase funding for the NHS and social care so that we can pay frontline workers properly, reduce waiting times and offer everyone an NHS dentist place and free personal care I will push to clean up our rivers and seas by nationalising the water companies, properly funding the regulators and reforming business laws to ensure water companies prioritise people and planet. I will demand that we develop a joined-up, long-term approach to housing. One that frees up empty properties, delivers the social rent and smaller homes that communities need, comes with the necessary infrastructure and enhances biodiversity and ecosystem strength. I am a dedicated and life-long environmentalist with a long track record of action in this area. I would push for a bold, cross-sector Green New Deal which would invigorate how we approach energy, housing, farming and more so that we create high-skilled, well-paid jobs and protect our country for future generations. We can all see and feel the damage that 14 years of Conservative leadership has done to our country and our public services. But Labour are offering more of the same: more NHS privatisation, faster house-building, no lift to the two-child benefit cap and a seriously inadequate plan for climate and nature. I believe that we and our children deserve a brighter future than the main parties are offering us. We need real change and we need it now. I am a dedicated, conscientious, hard-working person of integrity who you can rely on to stand up for the interests of this area. I am a very effective communicator who often speaks at events and conferences and I have an in-depth understanding of business, economics and environmental issues. The electoral record below includes elections where I stood as a "paper candidate" in areas where we did not campaign, so that people had a chance to vote Green. It does not reflect my success when campaigning. Every vote for me and for the Green Party pushes us closer to a fairer, more prosperous and more compassionate society. If you want to see change, vote Green.
