Statement to voters
The failure of the Tory manifesto to provide a clear unifying statement to bring people together contrasts with Labour's radical agenda to unite the nation. We will: * Abolish tuition fees * Retain the 'triple lock' on pensions and winter fuel allowance * Improve pay and conditions for nurses and other public sector workers * Re-nationalise key utilities to save the public from continuing exploitation It is astonishing that Theresa May linked security against terrorism, etc in her naive Article 50 letter, which understandably put the backs up of even sympathetic EU countries. She has also failed to confirm immediate retention of rights for EU citizens here - working in hospitals, hospitality, on building sites, etc. Instead, she has raised the issue of foxhunting, which I strongly oppose and deplore, being debated again in Parliament. Many Tory MP's claimed to support vulnerable refugees, but 289 voted against the Dubs amendment agreeing to help 3,000 children and young people fleeing persecution, settle here. Among them, was Faversham and Mid Kent's MP. Labour is gathering support, can bring people together - and make a final decision on Brexit after our brilliant shadow cabinet member, Sir Keir Starmer, concludes negotiations. I made a song about the Brexit shambles with EU musicians, its on You Tube: "Little Englanders". Let's make sure the Tories, who are taking the electorate for granted, are singing from a different songsheet on June 9th!
