Statement to voters
Originally from the North East, Dominic studied law at the University of Central Lancashire. After qualifying as a solicitor he worked in London before moving to Essex. Dominic currently works for a law firm based in Braintree, specialising in medical negligence. Dominic was a Colchester Borough Councillor representing Mile End ward, which incorporates Colchester Hospital and Colchester railway station, and is bordered by the A12. Dominic is passionate about the NHS and is saddened by the problems which have recently faced local hospitals. It is essential to employ more doctors and nurses to help ease the burden of a growing population on the local health service. Dominic fully endorses Liberal Democrat plans to increase NHS funding by the £8billion it needs, especially the £400million towards early support for those suffering mental health problems. Having previously commuted from Colchester to London, Dominic is painfully aware of the regular difficulties facing a huge number of railway passengers week in, week out. Dominic has called for a Recall Clause to be introduced to the railway franchises, which would allow the government to cancel a poorly performing franchise. Dominic also fully supports cross-party attempts to improve the A120, a vital link between a major port and the region's international airport. Dualling the A120 is essential and Dominic will continue to push for funds to be invested by the Highways Agency.
