Statement to voters

I live in Bexley, and have two children. I joined the Green party after several years of watching the decline in arctic sea ice, the concurrent rise in atmospheric CO2 levels, the oceans acidifying and sea levels rising. It is a pity that 97% of the worlds atmospheric scientists can see the need for an urgent response to this, but our governments cannot. It seems our present system allows lobbyists, funded by large corporations to control Government policy. Profits, and the search for infinite growth blinds us to a future we ignore. Despite the evidence of massive declines in Bee populations, we are being pressured to allow the use of neonicitinoids. Despite the well documented contamination, we are being pressured to accept fracking. Despite reports suggesting air pollution plays a role in the deaths of 9500 of people in London each year we do nothing to address the main causes. We are now on the verge of a Brexit that may threaten our peace, stability and future. The campaign that brought about Brexit was one of half truths, outright lies and guesses. People should be given the chance for a second referendum when we know what we are voting for. I want to be part of a system that gives people a good quality of life and work, that listens to the science and not the lobbyists, and teaches our children that caring for our environment is more fulfilling than consuming it.
