Statement to voters
My guiding principle is that things can always be better. Politics should be concerned with helping people to have better lives. For most people in the UK, the 21st century is the best time there has ever been to be alive. Life can be longer, freer of disease and more interesting than ever before. But these resources are not uniformly available. Even in the UK, there are pockets of extreme deprivation that contrasts sharply with the affluence elsewhere. I would like to be in parliament to argue for a fairer country. Where healthcare is consistently available to all and where the vulnerable are assisted and treated fairly. I would like to see the government take a long-term view, rather than just to the next election, of how we can live more sustainably and not sacrifice the future for the present. I want to see real action on Climate Change because this is the biggest global threat we face. The worst effects of climate change will be seen during the lifetime of people voting for the first time in this election unless we act now. The Green Party stands for the common good. I believe in the common good
