Statement to voters
When I go about the Forest, my blood boils at the stories of how ‘austerity’ is dismantling our services; services that have taken decades to build. I am frustrated that the potential for the Forest to be an even better place to live and work is unfulfilled. The Forest is a beautiful place with strong communities and there is so much opportunity to enhance the way we care, teach, serve, heal, help and protect each other. My focus as the Forest’s Green MP would be absolutely the Forest itself, its people and its places. • I will protect: the Forest, its people, its extraordinary natural richness, and its way of life. • I will champion: our inventive workforce and wide-ranging skills, attracting and enabling businesses – especially in the fast-growing green tech sector. • I will nurture: our health and care system – with expansion of services right here; there can be no better place to heal than the Forest. The Greens do not fall into the usual ‘camps’- we work together for everyone’s benefit. I can be a unifying force to halt the Forest forever failing to win its fair share. Green ideas and vision are the only intelligent game in town. The few good Labour policies are borrowed from us, and the Conservative party are becoming the ‘loony’ party of our day. The opportunity for sustainable investment has never been greater yet the wilful opposition by central government has halted any progress. The present government’s failure to invest is damaging the local economy and ultimately employment provision. If elected to Westminster, I would guarantee to give up all other work to focus entirely on the job of being the MP with the energy that the Forest deserves. Vote Greenwood for a Green Forest.
